United Premier Soccer League Announces AC Miracle Hill as UPSL Championship Expansion Team
Desert Hot Springs (Calif.)-Based Pro Development Club Joins UPSL for 2019
Based in Desert Hot Springs (Calif.), AC Miracle Hill begins UPSL Championship play in the Western Conference.
United Premier Soccer League Western Conference Operations Manager Gary Brunner said, "Historically, there have been some really good teams and some terrific players come out in the Palm Springs area over the years, and it's great to see a club from Desert Hot Springs enter our league as we know they will be competitive. We welcome AC Miracle Hill to the UPSL and wish them the best of luck."
Athletic Club Miracle Hill is co-owned by brothers Rigoberto Escobedo and Rene Escobedo. Former local club players, the pair currently competes in a local futsal and indoor league team in Southern California's low desert.
AC Miracle Hill Owner Rigoberto Escobedo said, "We've had a good group of players together for a few years, and we felt like the time is right to make the jump into the UPSL, which is a very competitive league. It's exciting because the UPSL is a great league with a great base and a great future. This is a difference-maker in our community and for young players here."
Rigoberto Escobedo, 29, is a radio producer for NBC and Univision in Palm Desert (Calif.). He also words as a freelance graphic designer and is a host of the podcast "Primer Toque: A Soccer Podcast".
"My brother and I decided to try and make this bigger," Escobedo said. "There haven't been any options for players here in the past and we want to change that. There's so much talent here and there hasn't been anyone willing to start something big. We want to do it. We want to bring all the best teams here and create opportunities for the players in the community to they have a chance to be seen."
The club is finalizing its venue options and will announce upcoming tryouts and its game schedule.

AC Miracle Hill is an American Soccer club currently based in Desert Hot Spring, Calif., and a new member of the United Premier Soccer League. AC Miracle Hill plays in the UPSL Championship.
Founded in 2018, AC Miracle Hill can participate in the qualifying rounds for the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup through their affiliation and membership with the UPSL, the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).

The UPSL was formed in 2011 and currently includes more than 300 teams in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia and Wisconsin. UPSL is the fastest growing Pro Development League in the USA, with 400-plus teams targeted for 2018 Spring Season. Each UPSL team is individually owned and operated, and is responsible for maintaining either UPSL Pro Premier Division or Championship Division minimum standards.
UPSL teams are all eligible to participate in the U.S. Open Cup Qualifying Rounds through the leagues affiliation with the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).
