Dr. Michael Scherer Headlines the Event
The interactive workshop, near John Wayne Airport in Costa Mesa, hosts Dr. Michael Scherer as the key presenter. Scherer works as an assistant clinical professor at Loma Linda University and a clinical instructor at University of Nevada. His specialty is maintaining a practice limited to prosthodontics and implant dentistry in Sonora. In addition, Dr. Scherer is a fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists. His published articles focus clinical prosthodontics, implant dentistry and digital technology with a special emphasis on implant overdentures.
Focus on Digital Implant Dentistry
Dr. Scherer will share his innovative practices and avid interest in technologies that have transformed the dental industry. Scherer's involvement in digital implant dentistry has led him to develop and utilize new technology with CAD/CAM surgical systems in addition to implementing interactive CBCT implant planning. He is recognized as a leader in digital industry and recognized nationally from the four YouTube channels he maintains, including LearnLOCATOR, LearnLODI, LearnSATURNO and The 3D Dentist.

Comprehensive Agenda with Live Demonstrations
This specialized workshop begins Oct. 5 with a session on optical scanning and open STL files with instruction on using intra-oral scanning in your practice, working with free software to create printable models and Essix-style retainers, as well as a live demonstration exporting scans as STL files. The first day of the workshop continues with sessions on essential techniques for planning implants with Blue Sky Plan software, guide fabrication methods, surgical technique and printing surgical guides using low-cost desktop 3D printers.
Participants are required to bring a PC or Mac to both days of this two-day conference emphasized on small group learning. In addition to a full day on Oct. 5, registrants can also attend day 2 on Oct. 6 that includes a morning session on advanced digital restorative dentistry. The session introduces working Meshmixer to digitally wax-up anterior and esthetic cases, digital articulation, converting from digital to analog and simplifying restorative dentistry techniques.
A special afternoon session on Oct. 6 includes a workshop on fully-guided surgical guide techniques, hands-on demonstrations for converting DICOM to STL for 3D printing anatomical models and instruction on fully edentulous surgical guide workflows.
