Bernie Taupin's forthcoming exhibition at Chase Contemporary marks another formative chapter in the artist's career as a citizen who truly embraces America. While there is no singular definition for a True American, actions clearly separate those who take initiative from those who are only talkers. Bernie Taupin is an artist of action. His constructed works of art are rich with iconic and impactful symbolism. In his latest series of mixed media creations, the lyricist turned visual artist has masterfully created his most visually striking works to date.
Once again, in keeping with the overarching theme of the True American exhibition, Taupin delivers creations that embrace the American flag, flowing with texture and diverse history in all its glory. Themes and symbols of patriotism, combined with music, run deep throughout the entire exhibition. American flags woven into compositions filled with layers of shattered guitars and instruments create a narrative of how music and patriotism are fused into American culture. Artworks with titles such as: "Wave the Flag", "Worlds Most Wanted", and "Sleeping Beauty" further convey Taupin's visual perspective on what it means to be a True American. Included in the exhibition will be works of art that nod to his musical inspirations and creative alumni, but the main exhibition focus will be on his visual spirit as a True American.
Chase Contemporary is an art gallery and artist project space with two prominent locations in Chelsea, New York's fine art district. Chase's core program is to exhibit both established blue chip artists and emerging artists, to create a dynamic program that is diverse and provocative in its vision.

With "Against All Odds," Cuban artist Williams Carmona presents a diverse selection of paintings and sculptures that address the consequences of human behavior in love, politics and environmental issues. This autobiographical collection is displayed through the artist's style of "magic-realism,"
"Against All Odds" reaffirms the relationship between art and politics by representing the young generation of Cuban artists who emigrate in search of personal and artistic freedom. In his pictorial work and sculptures, Williams combines characters from other times with current situations to address issues of displacement, exile, geography and abuse. His work has been described as Caribbean Surrealism and Neo-Baroque due to his oeuvre containing a metaphysical undertone that transports the viewer through time. Inspired by art historical epigones and neighborhood characters, Williams arranges his characters in the staged play that is his work.
