Incumbent Congressman Refuses to Debate Opponent for 2 Years in a Row

LOS ANGELES - Oct. 4, 2018 - PRLog -- Incumbent California Congressman Ted Lieu (D-Torrance) had
rejected a debate expected to held on October 10th by The League of Women Voters in the Palos Verdes. Chamber of Commerce against his conservative opponent, Dr. Kenneth Wright. This is not the first time that Mr. Lieu had rejected a debate in his own district. Both Lieu and Wright are competing for the 33 rd
The district that includes the prominent areas of Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, Malibu, and Manhattan Beach.
Lieu has been absent from all candidate debates and forums with Dr. Wright, who's running for the
second time. For the last two elections, Ted Lieu has not shown up for any of the five public debates
sponsored by the League of Women voters and Palos Verdes Chamber of Commerce.
Dr. Wright comment:
"I showed for the events but never had the opportunity to debate my opponent. Shouldn't the people have the right to hear what the candidates stand for? Ted Lieu's refusal to participate disrespects us the voters and undermines the Democratic process. We need to ask ourselves, why Ted Lieu is hiding his
record from the people. Unfortunately, he's not allowing me to speak and eliminate the Congressional part form the Candidate Forum conceals the fact that Lieu will not face the people. The constituents should know - we are dealing with a chicken who doesn't want to debate in his district."
