OMAHA, Neb. - Oct. 3, 2018 - PRLog -- The Kim Foundation will hold its annual luncheon, "A Time for Hope and Healing", on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at the Embassy Suites La Vista in La Vista, Nebraska.  The event, open to the general public, features former Congressman, Patrick J. Kennedy, one of the world's leading innovators on the prevention and treatment of mental illness, addiction, and other brain diseases. Tickets are $75.00 per person for the 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. luncheon.

During his eight terms in Congress, Kennedy led the passage of landmark, bi-partisan mental health legislation. Through his post-Congressional leadership, he continues to improve care & treatment and shape public policy. In addition, he shares his personal story in The New York Times bestseller, "A Common Struggle: A Personal Journey Through the Past and Future of Mental Illness and Addiction."

"We're thrilled to welcome Patrick Kennedy as the keynote speaker for our annual luncheon. Patrick is a leading national advocate in the mental health field and his messaging and advocacy strongly align with The Kim Foundation's mission to serve as a voice for those impacted by mental illness," said Julia Hebenstreit, Executive Director, The Kim Foundation. "He has lived experience with mental illness and substance use and delivers a message that's extremely powerful and transparent."

She added, "Given Patrick's national prominence, his appearance has generated a great deal of interest community wide. We're looking forward to bringing the community together to continue this much needed conversation and further break down the stigma that still exists surrounding mental illness."
