Living As One Live Streaming for Global Leadership Summit
DALLAS - Oct. 4, 2018 - PRLog -- Living As One, LLC provided multisite video broadcasting for the 2018 Global Leadership Summit (GLS), hosted by Willow Creek Association, to churches, prisons, and corporations across North America. The Living As One Multisite Platform™ with HEVC simplified and enhanced participation in the event for regional live viewing sites.

According to Shana Case, Broadcast Director of Global Leadership Summit, "This is the second year we have used LA1 to broadcast the GLS, and I can't imagine doing another Summit without it! The technology is incredibly reliable, easy to use, and produces high-quality A/V, which creates a world-class viewing experience for our attendees. I am thankful for our partnership with LA1 and look forward to all the future possibilities."

Traditionally, the Global Leadership Summit viewing sites have received the broadcast through complex satellite transmissions. Through the Living As One system, 67 sites rented flexible, easy-to-use Multisite Decoder units in order to receive a live stream of the event over a standard public internet connection. These sites enjoyed a high-quality, resilient feed without needing to install a satellite dish or worry about inclement weather causing satellite interruptions. Utilizing the ability to embed and stream up to 16 channels of audio, the event was also interpreted live in French and Spanish. Living As One's Multisite Encoder streamed video in real time with next-gen HEVC compression, which reduced the streaming bandwidth requirements by 40% when compared with the widely used H.264 compression codec. The pairing of this advanced encoding technology, with Multisite Platform's 100% resilient delivery and video buffering capabilities, provided an uninterrupted viewing experience over the two-day event.

"Using [Living As One] for the GLS allowed me to concentrate on the audience experience rather than worry about a dish, signal, redundant testing, et cetera. This was our first Summit and I know we will use the LA1 receiver every year going forward. As a first-time Tech Director, I appreciated that it was very much plug-n-play," explained John Jones, Supervisor of Training and Human Development at Toyota Industrial Equipment.

Additionally, 21 churches who regularly use the Multisite Platform to stream their own weekend services to remote campuses were able to leverage the exact same workflow they are accustomed to using every weekend. No additional hardware or software had to be installed to receive the live GLS event. With permission from the Willow Creek Association, participating churches simply logged in to their Multisite Decoders and streamed the live conference like it was another church service. James Dager, the Director of Worship Media at Biltmore Church who uses the Multisite Platform on a weekly basis, added, "The thought of GLS happening without Live As One is daunting. The process, from beginning to end was incredibly simplistic, yet professional. Hands down, the most user-friendly streaming platform you will ever encounter and GLS couldn't have happened without it."

Living As One's Multisite Platform was originally developed to meet the needs of a single multi-site church and has since grown to support simultaneous video delivery for over 300 multi-site church organizations across the United States alone. Many of these churches have embraced Living As One with open arms after having repeated failures with other traditional streaming technologies, which suffer from video loss over unstable internet connections. Living As One uses a proprietary method of streaming which allows churches to transmit and receive two live HD videos over standard internet connections in a manner that is completely resilient to temporary internet outages. Even if internet connectivity is lost for minutes at a time, the platform will transmit 100% of the encoded video as soon as any internet connection is available. So long as a short delay is implemented at the receiving remote campuses (to ensure the video data has time to make it there, depending on the available bandwidth), audiences at the sites will enjoy the exact video which was captured by the encoder – without any framedrops or missing video content.

Paul Martel, CEO of Living As One, says the company will be working closely with the Willow Creek Association to open up access to GLS to a much wider audience across the platform in coming years. "The Multisite Platform was designed from the ground up to support global events like GLS. Every church organization who is a part of the platform can share live content with each other, and they can participate in platform sponsored events (such as GLS) for no additional cost. To bring hundreds and thousands of locations together, no matter where they are in the world, to participate as if they are one, goes a long way in working towards Jesus' vision of unity for His Church (John 17:20-23). The Global Leadership Summit executes events of this scale masterfully, and it is a real honor to be working with them."
