Creating a fun fall tradition for Christian and Montgomery County residents
By: Giles Farms
families and residents of Hopkinsville, Oak Grove, Ft. Campbell, Ky. and Clarksville,
Tenn., to enjoy the weekends of Oct. 6-21, open Saturdays 10am-5pm, Sundays, 1-5pm near Herndon, Ky. Admission is free and you pay only for what you pick at the
traditional 3-acre pumpkin field.
"The first patch was planted seven years ago. I asked my husband (and farmer) Carden Giles to plant a personal pumpkin patch for our grandsons where they could choose pumpkins to share with their friends and neighbors," said retired educator and owner Janie Giles. "This small patch ended up producing over a thousand pumpkins! Needless to say, we invited everyone we knew to come pick pumpkins with us and enjoy an afternoon with their families. Soon, a tradition was born."
Nestled in a wooded area, the patch will have everything you need to decorate for fall. From traditional carving pumpkins to flat white pumpkins for stacking to corn stalk bundles, straw and mums, our farm stand will offer something for everyone. In addition to the patch, toddler and field activities with festive food trucks will be on-site.
"Our family has enjoyed this relaxing and fun fall tradition for years and we're thrilled to share this experience with other families," said Becky Giles Green daughter of Janie and Carden Giles. "Our hope is that you'll come out to the farm and leave with new family memories and excitement for the harvest season."
The pumpkin patch is conveniently located 10 minutes from Hopkinsville, Oak Grove and Ft. Campbell and 20 minutes from Clarksville. See gilesfarms.com for directions. Close- toed shoes and boots are strongly recommended.
