Montclair Art Museum Launches Another Season of Free First Thursday Nights Made Possible By TD Bank
Monthly Extended Evening Hours Offer Free Admission, Art Activities, Tours, Live Music, and a Full-Service Bar the First Thursday of the Month, This Week's Program Includes a Book Talk With Molly Crabapple, New Fall Exhibitions, and More
The October event will launch the Free First Thursday Night season with new exhibitions at MAM. Discover the art of leading contemporary artist, Kara Walker in Kara Walker: Virginia's Lynch Mob and Other Works and experience pieces from MAM's permanent collection like never before in Constructing Identity in America (1766–2017. Take tours of the exhibitions at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m.
A highlight of October's programming is a book talk with artist and writer, Molly Crabapple. Crabapple's recent book, Brothers of the Gun: A Memoir of the Syrian War, has recently been long listed for the National Book Awards. See Crabapple in conversation with journalist Murtaza Hussain at 7 p.m.
Free First Thursday Night presents a variety of art forms and invites visitors to get creative themselves!
· Enjoy live music in the galleries with the Silver Fox Songs Quartet.
· The Yard School of Art's Draw Along Workshop offers a free drawing session with a clothed model and guided art instruction for all ages.
· Teen Space Open Studio welcomes teens with a free open studio.
· Celebrate 20years of the Yard School of Art at MAM with an exhibition of instructor art work.
· Visit our Family Learning Lab to engage with the art on view through a hands-on art project.
