Surf Gidget The Pug Shows Off Her Skills Yet Again At The 10th Annual Surf City Surf Dog Competition
By: Kerry Hawk
Canines of different breeds and sizes participated in the 10th annual Surf City Surf Dog competition in Huntington Beach, California on Saturday hosted by Surf Dog Events.
All dogs competed in a number of categories including solo surfing, two-dog surfing, and human-dog surfing.
They were judged in several criteria's like size of wave, difficulty of the surf, and riding an open-faced wave compared to a white-water wave.
Some dogs played it up for the camera as they rode the waves while others looked terrified with wide-eyes as they headed to shore.
100's of dog lovers & surfers came out to supports the talented pooches and they put on a great show.
Some were surf 'veterans' and past champions, such as Gidget the white pug whom came in first-place during events in the Imperial Beach Surf Dog Competition in San Diego in July, 1st place in San Fransisco at the World Dog Surfing Championships and 1st at the Surf Dog Surf A Thon at Del Mar, San Diego on September 9th. Looks like Gidget is on a winning streak. She might be a small Pug but this pug has got the skills with taking on big waves, riding backwards and doing turns on the board.
In the end Gidget the pug took third place, Cherie 2nd & Prince Dudeman 1st.
More than 500 dogs have attended this event over the last 10 years. Bravo.
