BRONX, N.Y. - Sept. 30, 2018 - PRLog -- Lehman Center for the Performing Arts and GOYA FOODS presents three Legendary Soul, Pop, and R&B Acts in one night! TONY! TONI! TONE! ("Feels Good", "Whatever You Want"), SHEILA E ("The Glamorous Life", "A Love Bizarre"), and DENIECE WILLIAMS ("Free", "Too Much, Too Little, Too Late", "Black Butterfly", "Let's Hear It For The Boy") perform in celebration of Lehman College's 50th Anniversary on Saturday, October 13th, 2018 at 8pm.  Produced by Lehman Center.

This concert continues the completion of the first phase of renovations at Lehman Center for the Performing Arts. Concert goers will find that the lobbies have been upgraded for ADA compliance with new ramps and carpeting, and the interior of the theater will have new seating, carpeted aisles, and finished flooring as well. The $15.4 million dollar refurbishment of the Center, which is expected to be completed by mid-2019, will also include 5,400 square feet of enlarged space, with a new main entrance and a redesigned box office, plus new administration offices and restroom facilities on the first and mezzanine floors, and an elevator. The Center seats 2,278 people in the concert hall and is the largest of its kind in the borough. Funding for the project is being provided by the Office of the Governor, the New York State Legislature, the Bronx delegation of the New York City Council, and the Office of the Bronx Borough President. Additional funding is being raised with a seat naming initiative, which allows community members to make a personal connection with one of New York City's most important not-for-profit entertainment venues.
Lehman Center for the Performing Arts is on the campus of Lehman College/CUNY at 250 Bedford Park Boulevard West, Bronx, NY 10468.  Tickets for TONY! TONI! TONE!, SHEILA E, and DENIECE WILLIAMS on Saturday, October 13th, 2018 at 8pm are VIP $100, $85, $55, and $50, and can be purchased by calling the Lehman Center box office at 718-960-8833 (Monday through Friday, 10am–5pm, and beginning at 4pm on the day of the concert), or through online access at www.LehmanCenter.org. *VIP Reception: The Havana Café, Goya Foods and Lehman Center special VIP pre-concert wine & hors d'oeuvres reception will start at 6:30pm. TONY! TONI! TONÉ! crashed out of their Oakland, California neighborhood with their 1988 Gold debut album Who? which spawned the #1 R&B hit "Little Walter". Composed of brothers D'Wayne Wiggins (vocals & guitar) and Raphael Saadig (lead vocals & bass) and their cousin Timothy Christian Riley (drums & keyboards), the group's first record also contained three additional R&B top ten hits: "Born Not to Know", "For the Love of You" and "Baby Doll". Their second album The Revival was released in 1990 to both critical and popular acclaim, garnering Platinum status with the #1 R&B hits "It Never Rains In Southern California", "The Blues", "Whatever You Want" and "Feels Good" which went Gold and won the ASCAP Award. This album also included the song "Me & You" which was featured in the movie Boyz n the Hood. I

DENIECE WILLIAMS is a four-time Grammy award winning American singer–songwriter with a four-octave range and a distinctive soprano voice. She has been described as "one of the great soul voices" by the BBC. In the 1970's Deniece was a backup vocalist for Stevie Wonder, Syreeta Wright, Minnie Riperton  Roberta Flack, and Weather Report. Her debut album This Is Niecy went platinum, rose to #3 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop chart, and spawned the single "Free", which reached No. 2 on the Black Singles chart, No. 25 on the Billboard Hot 100, and No. 1 on the British Singles chart in 1976. Her second album Song Bird (1977) contained the hit "Baby, Baby My Love's All For You".

SHEILA E (Escovedo) is a percussionist, singer, author, actress, and the biggest and brightest of Prince's protégées. Born into a musical family in the Bay Area of California, she was influenced by her percussionist father Pete Escovedo, uncles Coke, Alejandro, Mario and Javier Escovedo, and her godfather Tito Puente. In 1977, she joined the George Duke Band as a percussionist and singer, appearing on several of the band's albums, and she also performed with Lionel Ritchie, Herbie Hancock, and Diana Ross. In 1983 she joined Marvin Gaye's Midnight Love Tour as one of his percussionists.
