Christopher P. Barton Elected to Illinois Bankers Association Board of Directors
Barton has 36 years of community banking experience in the Chicagoland area. He was hired as President, CEO and Director at The State Bank of Geneva in 2015. Prior to The State Bank of Geneva, he served for 17 years with the Community Bank-Wheaton/
Barton has been an active member of the IBA, serving as a member of the Government Relations Committee from 2002-2014, and most recently as Treasurer of the Chicago Chapter. He is also engaged within the community, serving on the board and various committees with Outreach Community Ministries since 2003. His civic involvement includes time serving in executive capacities on boards with the Wheaton Chamber of Commerce, the Downtown Wheaton Association, the Wheaton Lions Club and the Carol Stream Chamber of Commerce. He also served a Co-chair of the City of Wheaton Sesquicentennial Commission.
Barton has a degree in Economics from Wheaton College, and is a graduate of the School for Bank Administration and the ABA Commercial Lending School. He lives in Wheaton and is married to Ruth Haley Barton. They have three daughters and nine grandchildren.
