US entity of Global Metal Company offers to sell hardware products of Indian manufacturers

NEW YORK, USA   27 September 2018: With the growing awareness of online selling and ecommerce fast catching up, especially among the younger generation, the Indian hardware companies are trying to keep pace gradually. Apart from the rising trend in the domestic ecommerce market, companies are now looking to expand globally using online platforms like Amazon, eBay, Alibaba and several others. However, the exorbitant cost of international shipping in the retail segment is a major deterrent for many of the companies.

Now the Indian hardware exporters who are willing to sell their excess stock directly in the US markets have another easier option. The innovative solution, combining the online and conventional offline mode is being launched by the US entity of the Global Metal Company, an Aligarh based export firm having a registered office in New York and a warehouse at Texas, USA. They plan to collect excess stock of export surplus hardware goods from India and store them in their US warehouse. Then, the goods will be sold locally in the US markets at a higher price than the normal export price in India. The company will not charge anything from the manufacturers unless the goods are sold. If the goods are not sold within two months, they can be shipped back to the manufacturer at a nominal cost to cover the transport charges.

Speaking to reporters, Raheel Ahmad, an IIM-Calcutta alumnus and owner of Global Metal Company said that his company plans to implement latest technological tools to manage the international supply chain. In a press release issued by his company, he outlined the major steps for the proposed solution and reiterated his focus on channelizing surplus stock in the lucrative international markets. He mentioned that sometimes, the manufacturers are left with surplus goods after fulfilling their export obligations, which ultimately becomes a dead stock due to their inability to sell directly. So, the Global Metal Company is targeting to help those hardware exporters in selling their excess stock.  He said that further details will be uploaded shortly on the company's India website shortly.

Later the company plans to expand into other product categories such as handicrafts and home decor as well as other regions in addition to USA. They are also in touch with Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH) which is a Government of India body for promoting handicrafts' exports from India. According to sources within the company, they have written an email to EPCH requesting them to share details of the members so that they can be made aware of this facility.

As per the market research for the hardware industry, the major export markets for the Indian hardware are USA, UK, EU, Australia and South Africa. Although the hardware market is mainly divided into different categories such as brass hardware, zinc hardware, stainless steel and iron, but the demand for each category keeps fluctuating with the metal prices. The company also mentioned that they will sign contracts with the manufacturers assuring a minimum agreed price before shipping the goods to their US warehouse.
