United Premier Soccer League Announces Coyotes FC as Central Conference Expansion Team
Founded in 2018, Central Texas-Based Pro Development Club Joins UPSL
Based in Central Texas, Coyotes FC begins UPSL play in the Pro Premier Central Conference Heart Division and play its UPSL home games at Holy Trinity Catholic High School (6608 Adams Ave., Temple, TX 76502) in compliance with UPSL's Minimum Standards.
United Premier Soccer League Central Conference Manager Matt Kahla said, "We're pleased to welcome Coyotes FC to the Heart Division. The ownership of the club has its pulse on soccer in Central Texas and is in a good position to put together a strong infrastructure for Coyotes FC. We wish the club luck as it kicks off its inaugural season."
Specialist Manuel Velasquez, U.S. Army (Ret.), is Co-Owner and President of Coyotes FC. Velasquez, 28, holds a BA in Computer Information Systems from Texas A&M University, and currently is a Project Developer in the solar industry.
Coyotes FC Co-Owner and President Manuel Velasquez said, "We decided to create Coyotes FC, with the Orozco Brothers, after looking at all the quality, all the talented players they have here and we chose the UPSL to see how far we can get, and much how we help the players here in Central Texas. We're trying to develop more options for soccer here in Central Texas, and we like the UPSL's growth in Texas and how much it's helping players."
A native of Colombia who played in regional leagues as a teen and before immigrating, Velasquez also is currently in the process of obtaining an MBA in Sports Management from an online program co-opted with La Liga's Real Madrid CF.
"It's an opportunity I couldn't pass up," Velasquez said. "Coming to football management right now I feel like there's a lot to learn, and a lot of the staff for the classes come from Real Madrid and that makes the program really strong. It's been very interesting."
Isaac and Antonio Orozco, operators of GameTime Arena indoor soccer facility (401 N F.M. 3219, Harker Heights, TX 76548) are the other Co-Owners of Coyotes FC.
Isaac Orozco serves as Coyotes FC Head Coach. Antonio Orozco is the club's Director of Marketing.
Coyotes FC plays its first UPSL game at 5 p.m. CT this Saturday versus FC Waco at Hot Soccer Complex (6101 Airport Rd., Waco TC 76710).
