ChildFundIndia Conferred Upon PrestigiousPralhad P. Chhabria Memorial Global Award, 2018

NEW DELHI - Sept. 21, 2018 - PRLog -- ChildFund India has been adjudged winner in the "Pralhad P. Chhabria Memorial Global Award for outstanding contribution to Child Development" category by Priyadarshni Academy's Global Awards Advisory Committee. Globally recognized Priyadarshni Academy Awards are conferred on National and International Dignitaries for Outstanding Contribution in their respective fields. The award was received by Ms. Neelam Makhijani, CEO & Country Director, ChildFund India from Shri Piyush Goyal, Minister of Railways and Coal. The 34th Anniversary Global Awards Function was held on 19thSept., 2018 at the Regal Room, Hotel Trident, Nariman Point, Mumbai. The glittering ceremony saw the who's who of India in attendance.

A total of six awardees were felicitated by leading political dignitaries at the Academy's Awards presentation ceremony.Shri Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Shipping; Road Transport &Highways; Water Resources; River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation, was the Chief Guest at the event, and Shri Piyush Goyal, Minister of Railways and Coal, was the Guest of Honor. Shri Suresh Prabhu, Minister of Commerce and Industry; and Civil Aviation, could not be present but his inspiring video message was played to the audience. Actress Poonam Dhillon and actor Bharat Dhabolkar were also present at the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Neelam Makhijani, CEO & Country Director of ChildFund India said, "We all hear children are our present and future, they must be protected and well cared for. Hand on heart, as a country can we claim we have done our best? There are millions of children who don't have access to basic amenities, face abuse, and exploitation and are deprived of their dreams. I feel humbled and honoured to receive the PriyadarshniAward and believe that this not only recognizes the good work done so far but also encourages and inspires ChildFund to walk many more miles towards a brighter future of our children!"

Other eminent personalities awarded this year included acclaimed Hindi film actor-producer Ms.Anushka Sharma who was honoured with the SmitaPatil Memorial Award while entrepreneur par excellence Mr.Ronnie Screwvala was awarded the Priyadarshni Academy Global Award for his outstanding contribution towards Innovative Entertainment and Community Development.Priyadarshni Academy Global Award for outstanding contribution to Education for Underprivileged was conferred on Ms. Anu Aga, Chairperson and Founder Trustee, Teach For India, Mumbai. Ms. Elisabeth Rehn, Hon. Minister of State, Finland received Harish Mahindra Memorial Global Award for outstanding contribution to the promotion of Peace and Crisis Management and Prof. M. M. Sharma, Emeritus Professor of Eminence, Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai was awarded Priyadarshni Academy Global Award for outstanding contribution to Science and Technology.

Priyadarshni Academy is a premier non-profit, socio-cultural and educational organization. Real Estate tycoon, Mr. NiranjanHiranandani, is the Chairman. Priyadarshni Academy is the brain child of Businessman and Humanitarian Mr. Nanik Rupani, Chairman Emeritus. Dr. R. A. Mashelkar, FRS, National Research Professor is the Chairman of the Global Awards Advisory Committee of the Academy.
