A few years later, a friend suggested Jenny enter her chutney in the Cuisine Artisan Food Awards which celebrate the best of NZ artisan foods. To Jenny's surprise & delight her Tamarind Chutney won a coveted Cuisine Artisan Food Award in 2012, an impressive achievement for an 80-year-old who still holds the record as the oldest recipient of this prestigious award. More recently Jenny's Tamarind Chutney was a Gold Medal Winner at the Outstanding NZ Food Awards 2018. From the judges: "A lovely product which is obviously made by a skilled producer. Everything marries perfectly." While Jenny is no longer stirring the pots, the Tamarind chutney with the secret recipe that bears her name, is now in the capable hands of Grant Hunter & Cathy Knight, however Jenny keeps in touch and is very excited that American customers are now easily able to get their hands on a jar in the USA. Jenny's Kitchen Tamarind Chutney comes in four different varieties; Mild, Medium, Hot and Extra Hot, in 300ml glass jars. Ingredients include a generous tamarind base, sugar and a secret blend of herbs and spices. Free from artificial colors, preservatives, stabilizers or thickeners. Jenny's chutney is Vegetarian, Vegan and Gluten Free and does not contain tomatoes, added salt or vinegar. Editor of Cuisine Magazine Kelli Brett describes Jenny's Chutney as, "Now this is the bomb. It's amazing the things you can do with this chutney. Smear it over salmon before baking, or stir some through a pot of pumpkin and coconut cream soup.
