Follow on Google News | ![]() Iconic Biscuits Launches New Local Brand, "Boozy Biccies"Launched in 2017, Iconic Biscuits was developed to fill the need for a locally produced, Northern Ireland biscuit in the international gift market. This year, they have a new range of biscuits, designed for the home market.
Using their secret "cold fusion" process, the alcohol is not cooked out in the manufacturing process, making them a strictly adults only product, packed with flavour and ideal for repeat sales and special events alike. Michael Thompson, the creator of Iconic Biscuits has been developing the new biscuits for almost a year: "I really wanted a product that was not just produced here, but genuinely reflected the aspects of Northern Ireland we know and love. A lot of research went into the brand, with the Mournes appearing in the logo and Belfast Bolts being a direct result of research into the shipyard. I have plans to expand both the range of flavours and the representation of iconic Northern Ireland aspects." The new brand is backed by a social media campaign across Twitter, Instagram and Facebook, with plans for in-store tasting events across Northern Ireland. Boozy Biccies are sold in 140g boxes, rrp from £2.99. You can also visit the website at www.boozybiccies.com Notes for editors: Boozy Biccies is a trading name of Iconic Biscuits Ltd., founded by Michael Thompson in 2017. While attending a WorldHost course organised by Tourism NI, local business people were served a range of local foods from rare breed meats to dried seaweed. It was then that Michael realised there were no signature Northern Ireland biscuits on offer in the gift market or hospitality trade. Michael has worked in sales and marketing for over 20 years, starting out teaching Internet usage to youth groups followed selling affiliate marketing for the (then) UK's largest dot com retailer. Moving into design and web development he established an online retail brand and within one year owned the largest underwater camera equipment store in Ireland, selling thousands of products worldwide exclusively through his own website. With in depth knowledge of photography, web development and Photoshop skills, he was hired by one of the top PR photography agencies in Northern Ireland, Harrison Photography, where he remained for five years before launching his own online marketing company. In 2013 Michael took a break to retrain as a chef and spend time with his new daughter Lucy, who now joins him in the kitchen for baking and spoon licking, before launching Iconic Biscuits in 2017.
