LISBON, Portugal - Sept. 18, 2018 - PRLog -- Inês Lebre is a woman with a fashion masterplan. Having seen for years the brightest new creative talents from Portugal make the move to fashion capitals such as London, Paris and New York, she wanted to launch a new accessories brand that offered an opportunity to reinvent Portuguese fashion for the global market - and lure back top Portuguese talent to her creative team. With international hype around Portugal growing, bringing Portuguese artisans back in the spotlight, Inês planned to create a brand that represented the best of what the country had to offer creatively today – namely stunning craftsmanship – coupled with a striking new, avant-garde flair, bold colours and confident, mischievous design. A year on, INLU shoes is the result, a collection of sophisticated mules, boots and derbies that playfully introduce Inês's vision of the new Portuguese cool.
Today, she launches her debut collection on crowdfunding platform Kickstarter, with the aim of funding her first production run and introducing the vibrant and elegant new world of INLU. Using dynamic, colour-saturated campaign photography and a quirky Wes Anderson inspired crowdfunding video, her campaign aims to show the adventurous spirit of the brand and present the creative team and artisans involved. From Ana Fatia, the award-winning Portuguese artist and designer (Dupond Award) - and creative vision behind the brand - to the dedicated shoe makers at generations-old Alpim factory, Inês shows her talent for bringing the best that Portugal has to offer to her brand. "I've been wanting to work on something exciting in Portugal and show the world what Portuguese designers have to offer, INLU gave me the perfect opportunity. I'm so excited for the future of this brand, there is a real vision here that is different and unique" says Inês Lebre.
While building her dream team of woman-led designers and makers, Inês worked alongside innovative creative incubator Second Home, who recently expanded on their London hub to offer a new space in Lisbon and assist in developing fertile connections between exciting brands in Portugal and the United Kingdom. "It's been an amazing journey over the past year, I've learned so much from mentors and gifted, start-up entrepreneurs", says Inês, "it's inspiring working with a group that believes as much as I do in investing in Portugal's creative future."
Now Inês has set herself the ambitious goal to raise $25,000 in just 30 days on Kickstarter. "We chose Kickstarter as it has a reputation of being where smart businesswoman get their seed funding and as a democratic environment that attracts a unique, forward-thinking audience". For every shoe sold during the campaign, INLU promises to plant a tree with NGO 'Plant a Tree', sustainability being at the heart of the new brand. "We want to show that you can use natural products in exciting new ways, while still protecting our plant and resources".
For this special, first collection the team decided to incorporate a traditional Portuguese material, cork, in a truly state-of-the art way, creating an exclusive range of brilliant, new colour dyes that have never been used on cork before. 'It's just a glimpse of what's coming next for INLU shoes, with every step forward we want to be sexy and sophisticated yet always pushing boundaries creatively. "
