United Premier Soccer League Welcomes Sporting Miami FC as South Florida Expansion Team
Founded in 2018, Miami Beach (Fla.)-Based Pro Development Club Joins UPSL
Based in Miami Beach (Fla.), Sporting Miami FC has begun UPSL play in the Pro Premier Southeast Conference Florida South Division and play its UPSL home games this season at Ives Estates Soccer Park (20901 NE 16th Ave., Miami, FL 33179) in compliance with UPSL's Minimum Standards.
United Premier Soccer League Florida Divisions Manager Christian Vallejos said, "Exposing and increasing the depth of clubs in Miami has been a goal of the UPSL and we welcome Sporting Miami FC to the UPSL. Owner Jay Franco has played professionally in Miami and he understands what is needed to do it right down here. We wish Sporting Miami FC every success going forward."
Josue 'Jay' Franco is Owner and General Manager of Sporting Miami FC. A native of New York, Franco, 29, grew up in Lima, Peru and played for Alianza Lima's Reserve Team. He most recently played two seasons for Miami United FC (NPSL). He is currently a promotions and marketing entrepreneur in the restaurant industry.
Sporting Miami FC Owner and General Manager Jay Franco said, "Our plan is to build a whole academy with Sporting Miami FC and have the UPSL team be the top point of that. The UPSL is providing a great opportunity for clubs and players in Florida, and we have a lot to contribute. The UPSL is a high-level league, and one of my dreams s to play U.S. Open Cup and see how far we can get. We're putting this together with a group of players for a couple of years and we're ready to take that next step."
The club is sponsored by Gatorade sports drinks and Nxtlevel, a South Florida-based tech company.

Sporting Miami FC is an American Soccer club currently based in Miami, Fla., and a new member of the United Premier Soccer League. Sporting Miami FC will begin play in the UPSL Pro Premier.
Founded in 2018, Sporting Miami FC can participate in the qualifying rounds for the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup through their affiliation and membership with the UPSL, the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).
United Premier Soccer League
The UPSL was formed in 2011 and currently includes more than 200 teams in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Virginia and Wisconsin. UPSL is the fastest growing Pro Development League in the USA, with 300-plus teams targeted for 2018 Fall Season. Each UPSL team is individually owned and operated, and is responsible for maintaining either UPSL Pro Premier Division or Championship Division minimum standards.
UPSL teams are all eligible to participate in the U.S. Open Cup Qualifying Rounds through the leagues affiliation with the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).
