Pasadena Teens to Receive Expert Financial-Literacy Training

OXNARD, Calif. - Sept. 16, 2018 - PRLog -- Dr. Cozette M. White will teach teens at New Life Church about taxes and how they affect their paychecks on Friday, September 28, 2018.

Dr. White of My Financial Home Enterprises will visit New Life Church at 7:45 p.m. to teach teenagers about their paycheck and brace them for their first payroll tax deduction.

"We aim to take the shock out of the tax withholding system for teens new to the workforce," said Dr. Cozette M. White, CEO of My Financial Home Enterprises.  "The better teens understand their paycheck and the tax withholding system, the better they will handle their own finances."

The teaching effort is part of a nationwide push to improve financial literacy among teenagers. Payroll professionals will teach "Bring Home the Gold" to students across the United States during Money Matters National Education Day.

"We want to provide real-world financial literacy to America's next generation," said Dr.  White, CEO of My Financial Home Enterprises. "Organizations across the country are arming students with the knowledge and understanding to improve their money management skills, save for the future, and put more money in their pocket with each paycheck."

The My Financial Home Enterprises teamed with the National Council on Economic Education to create an easy-to-use lesson plan, structured for students who are new to the workforce.  The lesson explains the elements of a paycheck, the amount of taxes they can expect to have withheld, and how those taxes are calculated.
