By: United Premier Soccer League
Based in West Palm Beach (Fla.), Palm Beach Spartans FC is a registered Florida non-profit and will start UPSL play in the Pro Premier Southeast Conference Florida South Division.
United Premier Soccer League Florida Divisions Manager Christian Vallejos said, "We have a tremendous respect for Palm Beach Spartans FC as we welcome them to the UPSL. This is a club that has seen and won it all in amateur soccer in Florida, and it's an honor to have Cheddi Johnson leading his club in the UPSL. Good luck to Palm Beach Spartans FC as the team kicks off this weekend."
Cheddi Johnson is President and Head Coach of Palm Beach Spartans FC. A native of Jamaica, Johnson, 41, is a construction manager and contractor in South Florida, and operates Palm Beach Spartans FC with a team of administrators and coaches.
Palm Beach Spartans FC President Cheddi Johnson said, "This is what we do: We mentor through sports, specifically soccer (and) give an opportunity to young adults who otherwise might not have that opportunity. We're trying to promote undiscovered gems that have been left behind by the pay-for-play system. That's the crux of our organization – mentoring young people and to offer them a path other than crime, violence or drugs."
Richmond Dubriel and Nickenson Pierre serve as the team's assistant coaches. Dwight Amiel is the team manager, and Duianado St. Louis is the assistant team manager.
Palm Beach Spartans FC also features a boys youth academy in the Under-17, Under-19 and Under-20 age groups.
