Internationally Shown Artist Elizabeth Shanahan Releases Fall Collection
Collection will debut at elizabethshanahan.com on midnight, October 1st.
Shanahan's work focuses on the visual and emotional relationship between humans and our natural surroundings, and has been noted for its use of movement and texture. Her art has been shown in juried exhibitions from Georgia to New York City and the Louvre Museum in Paris. She has had solo exhibitions at the Looking Glass Gallery in Boone, NC, and the Blowing Rock Art and History Museum in Blowing Rock, NC, and a two-person exhibition with artist Rebecca Bremer at the Nth Degree Gallery in Boone, NC. Her work has also been featured in juried fine art shows from Miami to Washington D.C. and as far west as Scottsdale Arizona.
The new collection, Portami al Duomo, was inspired by the artist's childhood in the Appalachian Mountains. It features abstract, landscape-inspired compositions, a soothing neutral palette, and mixed media elements including linework in charcoal and pastel. In some places, Shanahan has actually pierced the painting surface, gaps, holes, and tears in paper and canvas to create negative space, broken up by stitching and knotting with yarn and embroidery floss.
The new collection, Portami al Duomo, will be released at midnight on October 1st on elizabethshanahan.com. In the meantime, previews and sneak peaks can be seen on Shanahan's social media pages, including Youtube videos and Facebook and Instagram Lives of the actual work being made.
