DUBLIN 8, Ireland - Sept. 12, 2018 - PRLog -- 'Blockchain the Supply Chain' the program set up by the European Supply Chain Institute to educate on and promote the applications of Blockchain in the Supply Chain welcomes NXP (http://www.nxp.com/) and its Project Manager Christopher Nigischer of the Hamburg based Industrial Competence Center as a contributor to its Thought Leadership Board.

The mission of 'Blockchain the Supply Chain' is to identify the actual Blockchain applications that make sense for the extended supply chain with transparency a key focus.

Blockchain promises to deliver more transparency and proof of ownership throughout the supply chain when it integrates with the current systems in place.

However, much of the Blockchain information available today is very generic and does not recognise the fact that different industries will approach and engage with the technology in different ways.

This is especially true of the supply chain where data governance and compliance issues are particularly important as organisations operate in diverse locations globally.

'Blockchain the Supply Chain' will address the information requirements of the supply chain both on the technology and its applications and how it can be deployed to enhance and future proof supply chain transparency.

"Without a doubt the emergence of Blockchain and its applications is very exciting and promises to transform the supply chain and how all trading partners collaborate globally. Due to the ongoing quest for supply chain visibility the supply chain is an ideal industry for Blockchain due to the need for true transparency and immutable proof of ownership of the products at each stage of distribution" states John Connors Director European Supply Chain Institute-Blockchain the Supply Chain.

We are delighted to announce NXP and Christopher Nigischer Project Manager – Industrial Competence Center as a contributor to the project. 'Blockchain technology has proven quite secure if we look at the core of the implementations.' Mr. Nigischer comments, 'However, most Blockchain projects consist of much more than the Blockchain itself. It really gets interesting when we aim to link the digital Blockchain with the physical world.' This challenging topic will be addressed in NXP's contribution to 'Blockchain the Supply Chain'.
