NIKKO, Japan & NEW YORK - Sept. 10, 2018 - PRLog -- The Nikko region of Tochigi Prefecture, Japan, including Kinugawa Onsen (both about 2 hours north of Tokyo along the Tobu Railway line), are well known locales for enjoying nature, especially the robust mustard, amber, and crimson-colored leaves of autumn.

However, in addition, autumn is also recognized as the best time for enjoying the richness of the harvest.  From rotund pumpkins to sweet, earthy chestnuts, Nikko and Kinugawa are perfect destinations for exploring and sampling these seasonal tastes.

Some of the best examples of the fresh, autumn bounty can be found at area hotels and restaurants.

Hotel Dining

Kinugawa Kanaya Hotel

This long-standing luxury resort hotel, known as the "Villa in the Valley," carries on the spirit of its founder Senji "John" Kanaya, combining traditional Japanese service with modern hotel amenities.  You'll forget the passing time as you savor the delicate flavor of traditional, in-season kaiseki-style (multi-course) meals, with a hint of Western influence.

Chuzenji Kanaya Hotel

The historic Chuzenji Kanaya Hotel, poised on Lake Chuzenji, is one of the most popular hotels in the area.  It beckons guests with its excellent access to nearby tourist sites and a superb outdoor bath "Sora-Buro." However, it is also renowned for its subtle, seasonal cuisine, which carries 140 years of tradition.

Great Choices for Health-Conscious Diners

Shizensaryo Meguri: Vegan Cuisine

Shizensaryo Meguri is a well frequented café located in a renovated building that was originally constructed as a traditional home in Japan's pre-war Taisho era. It serves a vegan menu from appetizers through dessert with the finest natural ingredients.
