Addiction Treatment Center Opens This Week

GAITHERSBURG, Md. - Sept. 5, 2018 - PRLog -- A new addiction treatment center that opened this week will benefit the greater Washington D.C. area.

The new facility, named the Freedom Center, was established by three childhood friends who wished to give back to their hometown. The center offers an outpatient program, including medication-assisted treatment (MAT), combined with aftercare services.

Co-founder Corey Hassett stated in a press release that he believes that aftercare programs are an essential part to helping patients achieve long-term addiction recovery.

Center staff works with each patient to determine a treatment plan. Program participants will attend counseling sessions, 12-step sessions, and activities aimed to help improve mindfulness and develop vocational skills.

The center also offers neurofeedback therapy. Doctors analyze a patient's brain waves in order to produce a signal that helps the brain regulate itself and improve function.

A recent study found that neurofeedback, when combined with MAT, improved a subject group's general mental health.

The Maryland Department of Health reported that over 2,200 statewide unintentional drug- and alcohol-related intoxication deaths during 2017. Montgomery County, where Gaithersburg is located, experienced more than 100 intoxication deaths.
