Sept. 5, 2018 - PRLog -- If it's a case of connecting already existing data networks which are a long distance apart with one another, for example on extensive company premises or in factories, spontaneously two solutions occur to us: laying new network cables or establishing transmission paths. The former is too expensive, the latter too unsafe. The frequently available twisted two-wire lines for the telephone systems are used for a third, good value and stable solution. Using media converters such as the IMC-V111ET-TB from Acceed, an extensive network can be built-up, based on VDSL technology, which offers constant quality and is as good as tap-proof.

The industrial media converter IMC-V111ET-TB is a cost-efficient solution for connecting data networks with one another which are a long distance apart. Distances of up to 2.4 km can be bridged unproblematically with two devices using twisted two-wire copper lines, which are often available from existing telephone systems. The protocols IEEE 802.3u for 100Base-TX, VDSL ITU-T G.993.1 and VDSL2 ITU-T G.993.2 are supported.

The IMC-V111ET-TB has an RJ-45 Ethernet connection (100 Mbps) for connection to the data network and a terminal block for connection of the telephone line to the VDSL2 port. Within the DSL context, all devices can be configured with the front side DIP switches either as a CO (telephone exchange) or a CPE (end device). So no two different devices are required, making use considerably more flexible, for example when modernising or extending an IT infrastructure. The Ethernet port supports the Auto MDI/MDI-X Switching function as well as dull duplex and semi-duplex operation. The manufacturer, for example, specifies the transfer rate for a 200m route with 100 Mbps upstream/downstream and for a 1000m route with 34 Mbps upstream and 6 Mbps downstream.

The robust device is designed for use in harsh industrial environments and allows operation at temperatures from -40 to +75 °C. The voltage range is redundant between 12 and 48 V DC, including integrated overvoltage protection, thus offering additional operational security. The typical current consumption is 4.75 W. Five LEDs indicate the operational status (power, network activity, CPE mode). The full metal housing has the dimensions 41 x 70 x 95.5mm and with its weight of 272g is both suitable for wall assembly and top-hat rail assembly. Fitting power supply units for the top-hat rail are available as accessories.

In its portfolio, Acceed offers a large number of industrial switches, media converters and components for factory automation, building technology or Smart Home applications. The service offer incorporates device configuration as well as technical information covering all facets of industrial communication as well as free software and tools for setting up and operating the devices offered.
