By: Music Is Unity Singer/musician Philip Bailey and his daughter Trinity Bailey founded the Music Is Unity Foundation in 2007 to realize their dream of giving back to the community by investing in agencies that support foster youth as they transition into adulthood. In 2008, MIU partnered with advocacy organization Foster Youth in Action to combine resources to best address the various issues surrounding youth in foster care. At Earth, Wind & Fire concerts throughout the United States and at special events with foster and emancipating youth, these two nonprofits provide opportunities for local organizations to become involved in supporting foster and emancipating youth. "Being a young adult in foster care at 18 is challenging," About Music Is Unity The Music Is Unity Foundation's mission is to financially support agencies that provide programming that enhances the ability of foster youth to transition successfully to adulthood. A percentage of ticket sales from Earth, Wind & Fire concerts are designated for the Music Is Unity Foundation; other sources of funding include individuals and corporations. About Foster Youth in Action Foster Youth in Action was founded in 2008 by young organizers and supportive adults with California Youth Connection (CYC). This grassroots, statewide, foster youth led organization had a powerful vision of a national community of organized groups and young leaders working locally, regionally, and nationally to ensure that the diverse voices of foster youth were truly represented. Starting California Youth Connection and then Oregon Foster Youth Connection, our family of youth-led groups has grown to 23 partners in twenty states. About Robins' Nest Throughout our 50-year history, Robins' Nest has grown from an organization serving children to a community-based services powerhouse with over 80 programs and services that impact children, adults, families, veterans, caregivers, and the community at large.
