INDIANAPOLIS - Aug. 30, 2018 - PRLog -- Following years of double-digit growth, OPYS Physician Services has been recognized by Inc. magazine as one of the 5,000 fastest-growing small companies in the United States. In addition, the company is according to Inc. the 19th fastest-growing small company in Indiana.

"Rural healthcare is in an ongoing and worsening crisis because of an aging rural population and increasing insurance denials," says Andre Creese, M.D., FACEP, president and CEO of OPYS.

"These result in increased costs, which are compounded by a national physician shortage, forcing hospitals to do more with less," he explains. "Outsourcing physician services, particularly for emergency departments, is a cost-effective way to manage hospital-based medical practices, while maintaining quality, evidenced-based patient care."

Propelled by 259 percent growth over the past three years, OPYS now employs 60-some people and in 2017 enjoyed total revenues of about $6 million. It ranks number 1,759 on Inc.'s list of the fastest-growing small American companies.

OPYS provides hospital-based physician outsourcing that focuses on emergency medicine, hospital medicine, urgent care and post-acute care. To put its business model in another way, OPYS is essentially a multi-specialty physician group whose affiliated practitioners (whether full-time or part-time employees or independent contractors) work at one or more of the company's client hospitals.

OPYS has nine clients, all of them rural hospitals in Indiana and Kentucky and all of them with fewer than 100 beds.

OPYS was founded in 2012 by Dr. Creese, who received his medical doctorate from the University of California, Davis. A former EMT, he has practiced as an emergency physician since 1998, in facilities ranging from rural Critical Access Hospitals in the Midwest to Level 1 trauma centers on the West Coast and for-profit hospitals on the East Coast. Dr. Creese remains a practicing emergency physician today.
