The Barebrush September calendar series, Art of the Day features 30 artworks in a late summer mood: nudes, portraits, people doing people things, and landscape. The media are paintings, photos, drawing and mixed. September launches with a photo nude, Contraste by Panama artist, Tony Lee, who writes, "Resplandor y penumbra, una dualidad visible pero tambien muy profunda,que expresa sin tener que hablar...." In translation: Glow and gloom, a visible but also very deep duality, which expresses without having to speak ..." The mood of September continues to fluctuate between the lassitude of summer and the change of seasons to come. Late in the month, another dramatic painting, Volcanic Calm by New York artist, Chanit Roston, reminds us of the turmoil both in the world and for many of us, in ourselves (September 28th).
