August 29, 2018 – Allentown, PA – Allentown ArtsFest returns with its 5th annual
festival September 28th– 30th at Cedar Beach Park in Allentown. Hosted by the
Alternative Gallery, ArtsFest continues to grow as a community event that celebrates outsider, fringe & emerging art forms.

Featuring over 100+ vendors, 300+ musicians, buskers and performers: all admission and entertainment are FREE for all ages.

The 2018 festival will feature 3 stages of live music & entertainment including: the
Martin Guitar Main Stage, showcasing a diverse range of genres from both local and touring performers, sponsored by Martin Guitar. The Tape Swap Radio Stage, drawing from the eclectic DIY music scene in the Lehigh Valley, will feature over 20 acts throughout the weekend. The Social Medium Stage will host stand-up comedians and live musical performances.

The Voyager Tent returns in 2018 in an expanded form focusing on technology &
interactive art. Featuring film & animation screenings, 3D printing by Fablicator, Indie Game Developers, & tech projects by Make Lehigh Valley; at the Voyager Tent, guests are encouraged to take a hands-on approach to technology as art.

"We want guests at the festival to be not only passive observers, but active participants. The idea behind the Voyager Tent and other aspects of ArtsFest is to make it as interactive as possible. People should experience these technologies firsthand which will hopefully show them their benefit for the future." Brandon Wunder (Creative Director)

The Graffiti Jam section celebrates the culture of Hip-Hop with breakdancing,
turntablism, emcee battles, and graffiti artists from across the east coast. Artists will
create murals and graffiti on large panel walls, and the panels will be on display
throughout the week after the festival.

ArtsFest 2018 will also be the subject of a Documentary/Concert Film shot over the
course of the 3-day event, utilizing dozens of videographers, drone operators & even animated sequences. This collaborative project will serve as a moving eye into the true spirit of the festival. Screenings of the film will be held at the Alternative Gallery at a date TBD. The film is being directed by Brandon Wunder.

Other featured activities at ArtsFest 2018 include:

- Win A D-420 Martin Guitar! Stop by Martin Guitar's booth next to the Martin
Guitar Main Stage for chance to win a limited edition D-420 Guitar!

- The Skate Park area, sponsored by Green Mountain Energy, will feature demos
& contests as well as open ride times for both BMX & skating. The contests will
be emceed by Mel Cody with prizes awarded from local skate shops Amateur
Athlete, Broken Spoke & more. Music for the skate park will be spun by various
local DJs.

- Co.Lab music tent located next to the Social Medium stage, offering interactive
electronic music gear.

- The AG Kid's Clubhouse section will offer fun and unique art making activities
& demonstrations for kids, by both the Alternative Gallery and other local nonprofit
groups.

- Official busking sites will be set-up throughout the festival grounds for additional
live performances.

- Special screening blocks from Open World Animation Fest 2018 at the Voyager
Tent.

- Shangy's will be onsite with their refrigerated truck, hosting local breweries.

- HiJinx will have their converted ambulance onsite near the Tape Swap Stage.

- Step Back In Time will be offering Pony Rides in the Children's Area for a small
fee, with a portion of the proceeds benefitting the festival.

Allentown ArtsFest is the flagship project of the Alternative Gallery, launched in
September 2014 as a free three-day festival at Cedar Beach Park in Allentown, ArtsFest welcomed over 5,000 members of our community in its first year and has grown to attendance of over 20,000 guests. The festival highlights the diverse art & culture of the Lehigh Valley with ongoing live art demonstrations, installations, multiple stages of music & entertainment, a technology area, film screenings, dance performances, unique vendors, locally made food and craft beer, free children's art activities and a full scale skate park.
