Electipedia.ca Brings Clarity To London's Municipal Election Choices

LONDON, Ontario - Aug. 29, 2018 - PRLog -- Voters are going to the polls on October 22 and will make choices between competing visions for the city.  The future of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), safe consumption sites, affordable housing: These are among the issues the new mayor and council will face in their term.

Without party affiliations and platforms as a guide – but with municipal governments delivering services that often most affect day-to-day lives of residents – making an informed choice among dozens of candidates for mayor and council is difficult.  Enter Electipedia.ca.

Electipedia.ca is a non-partisan, non-monetized collaboration between London businesses SlyFox Digital Media Marketing and Managed Communications.  Seeing a need to be filled, Electipedia.ca is designed to provide crowd-sourced information on candidates for mayor and council, including public positions on key issues and any public political affiliation or donations.  The site will provide high-quality information from a variety of sources in a curated platform that will allow the public (and campaigns themselves) to update information on candidates that can be independently verified.

"People need good-quality information to make good decisions," notes Daryl Hunt, president of Managed Communications.  "We want to provide a single point of reference for people to find unbiased, factual information about candidates.  Electipedia.ca is designed to grow as the campaign continues, and we encourage everyone to visit the site and add relevant information."

Michele Anderson of SlyFox notes that Electipedia.ca was born out of the staff's interest in local politics. "Those involved in the project are all share a passion for current events and wanted to find a way to help voters get engaged in this election," Anderson states.  "It is important to us to have a platform that is accessible and lets everyone share information on issues that are important to them."

Electipedia.ca is now active and everyone – voters, candidates, and political junkies of all stripes – can help shape issues and clarify candidate platforms.  All candidates will be sent a questionnaire by Electipedia.ca: Visit the site and tell us what issues you want candidates to address.
