NEW YORK - Aug. 27, 2018 - PRLog -- On October 18, a reimagined version of Group .BR's immersive original production, Inside the Wild Heart directed by Linda Wise, will debut at Aich Studio, an indoor/outdoor converted foundry in Gramercy Park. The production, which encourages its audience to engage with literature on a sensory level, will run through November 18, 2018, Thursday through Sunday. The Inside the Wild Heart multimedia performance and installation explores the life and work of famed author Clarice Lispector, who sought asylum in Brazil. The production will touch on topics that include identity, solitude, madness, violence, faith, time, maternity, childhood, freedom, and love and will take place in both English and Portuguese.

Group .BR, coined New York's only Brazilian theater company, run by women, and comprised of a 60% women cast, has been synonymous with Lispector's work for years. Among the host of honors the company has received, it accepted a 2018 Brazilian International Press Award nomination for Group .BR's Clarice's Hour/Hora de Clarice, which offered guests a glimpse of Inside the Wild Heart while joining the international celebration of Lispector's birthday.

Balardini, a Group .BR co-founder and its executive director, who was recently elected Director at Large for the League of Professional Theater Women, looks forward to aspects of Lispector's work that are as yet unexplored: "Our director, Linda Wise, has definitely lived up to our expectations as Andressa and I caught her up to our three-year process of researching and developing this production. Lispector's body of work is intense, and we believe that more people need to be exposed to the core of her work." The group is proud to work with a female director and are avid supporters of #OneMoreConversation, a movement to support and create more jobs for women in the arts.

Andressa Furletti, a Group .BR co-founder and its artistic director, anticipates the creative process of bringing Lispector's literature to life: "Clarice's books put readers in contact with their inner world by establishing an intimate and close dialogue with them. This is one of the aspects of Clarice's literature we want to be loyal to. That's why the show is immersive and the audience and actors are so close to each other. That is how reading Clarice feels to me, almost like a gentle whisper in the ear."

In stride with its seasonal approach to culture, philanthropy, and its original theater productions, Group .BR will host a benefit performance of Inside the Wild Heart on October 27. The benefit entails a toast to celebrate the run of the show, cast, crew, sponsors, and the supportive audience who ensured the Inside the Wild Heart Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign exceeded its expectations well in advance of its funding deadline. Group .BR ultimately hopes to travel with Inside the Wild Heart and to eventually bring the production to Lispector's old home in Pernambuco, which is fit for a museum, although the property is now abandoned.

Sponsors supporting Inside the Wild Heart include Nancy Quinn Fund, a program of the Alliance of Resident Theatres/New York A.R.T/New York; Avianca Brasil; Consulate General of Brazil in New York; Materials for the Arts; Natura Brasil; New Directions Publishing; Natura Brasil; Leblon; and PUNTO Space.
