Islamic Leadership Institute of America Delivers Stress Coping Workshop for Youth
Coping with stress and school pressure for middle school and high school youth offered at Islamic Community Center of Laurel
"With school starting soon, the pressure is on to start off the year with a bang! Whether it be academics, sports, or social engagements, we all have stressors that we need to handle on a daily basis", says Doha Nassar, Instructor and Youth Leadership Night Director at Islamic Leadership Institute of America.
During this reflective course, students identified their personal stressors and learned various coping techniques. By the end of the session students had a personalized list of mechanisms for handling stressful situations on a daily basis.
Common causes of stress among teens at school include homework, difficult teachers, peer pressure, bullying, meeting demands of competing sports and academic deadlines, changing friends, moving and changing schools, loss of a peer and examinations.
