LOS ANGELES - Aug. 24, 2018 - PRLog -- Califia and the Timeless Sentries is a motion comic web series about Califia, a powerful Nubian Amazon queen who joins forces with Sir Morien the Black Knight, Mowgli, Madame Butterfly, Sycorax the Sorceress, William Tell and Dawn Henry, a female descendant of John Henry, to defend the weak against the malevolent forces of Lemuria, a mysterious lost continent where time, space, science and magic defy the laws of nature.  The hidden history of who brought them there and why unravels August 30, 2018 as a new media production on YouTube.

Directed by Rockmond Dunbar (9-1-1, Prison Break) along with veteran voice director Chris Faiella, it stars the voices of a diverse cast of hot Hollywood actors including, Dana Gourrier (H8tful Eight, Django Unchained) as Califia; Stephanie Charles (The Paynes, Adulterers) as Dawn Henry; Victoria Platt (Star-Crossed, The Gates) as Sycorax; Demetrius Grosse (The Brave, Banshee) as Sir Morien the Black Knight; JB Blanc (War Dogs, Breaking Bad) as William Tell; Erin Fitzgerald (Monster High, Ed, Edd & Eddy) as Queen Serpentine; Diana Lu (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Bold and the Beautiful) as Madame Butterfly and Nirav Bhakta (Choices, #GirlCrush) as Mowgli.  Other featured voices include Timon Kyle Durrett (Queen Sugar, Single Ladies) as Caliban; Telma Hopkins (Half & Half, Family Matters) as Nana Henry and Jay Hunter (If Loving You is Wrong, Marvel's Agents of SHIELD) as Mr. Herndon.

According to freshman Hollywood writer Keith L. Underwood, the series creator, "This story was greatly inspired by the heroes of classic literature, the complexity of the alternate history genre and the campy fun of comic books."  Underwood continues, "It is unique to see a Black female lead alongside an ethnically diverse cast of characters in this particular genre. It's important for kids of all ages to see themselves represented in empowering ways."

The style of artwork in Califia and the Timeless Sentries is innovative but with a sentimental familiarity.

The original character concepts by Alejandro Gonzalez embraces the feel of nostalgic 1980s cartoon characters with an edge, and key animation by Shawn Hawkins consists of brilliant individual panel masterpieces that could be on display in any art gallery.  Theo Dureau, a talented independent songwriter from New Orleans wrote the original theme song and much sought-after producer Miyk Snoddy is the web series music composer.

Califia and the Timeless Sentries is executive produced by Keith L. Underwood for UMA Worldwide and Maurice Antonio for Moe Productions.  Keith L. Underwood also serves as producer along with former 20thCentury Fox and NBC/Universal production executive Dawn Carter. Animation great Ron Myrick (Skylanders Academy, Ren & Stimpy) is creative consultant and Hollywood diversity expert Dr. Darnell Hunt (Trolls 2, Spirit:  Stallion of Cimarron) is the technical consultant.

Califia and the Timeless Sentries begin their adventures on August 30, 2018 and a sneak peek can be seen now on YouTube.
