Microsoft and Amazon launch Alexa-Cortana for Echo Speakers and Windows

NEW CITY, N.Y. - Aug. 22, 2018 - PRLog -- Earlier this week, Microsoft and Amazon launched Alexa and Cortana public preview for all Echo speakers and Windows 10 users. The users will be able to say 'Hey Cortana, open Alexa' to Windows 10 devices.

"The public preview bringing the most popular AI assistant (Cortana) with the Smart echo speakers will be available to the users over a course of time," said a Microsoft spokesperson.

Cortana can schedule a meeting, create location-based reminders with Alexa having more than 40k voice apps and skills to tackle a broad range of use cases. Moreover, users will be able to do much more than their imagination when the Cortana and Echo Alexa will be combined.

However many of the features are common to both the assistants – Cortana and Alexa like reminders, timers, adding events and much more. But some of the features like music streaming music, news will not be available at the launch.

The integration between both the giants – Microsoft and Amazon was an acknowledgment that the founders believed that they live in a world with multiple Artificial Intelligence assistants. The world is big and so multifaceted, there are going to be multiple successful intelligent agents… with different specialized skill areas…, the CEO of Amazon, which is a parent company of Echo Alexa said in a statement.

Smart speakers with Cortana support include Echo, Echo Dot, Echo Spot, Echo Show and Echo Plus. Echo speakers are available in multiple dialects including Spanish, French, German and Japanese. Furthermore, Cortana can speak the same languages as well as many other languages too. This will be not the first time that the partnership between Amazon and Microsoft will come into existence.

"This integration is a longer-term vision for intelligent agents to work together on behalf of the customers and we are working closely with Microsoft to add new capabilities, features, and devices over time", said the spokesperson of Amazon. To give the users an option to speak with the guest assistant, a re-prompt command has been added for both assistants, the spokesperson added.

Alexa-Cortana will soon be available in other parts of the world and the integration will help introduce the two AI assistants to a wider group of users.
