Smith communities host free support groups for caregivers of people with Alzheimer's or dementia

CHICAGO - Aug. 21, 2018 - PRLog -- Southwest Chicago and suburban families and caregivers of older adults living with Alzheimer's disease or dementia can connect with others during open topic discussions at free meetings either Sept. 4 at Smith Village in Chicago's Beverly neighborhood or Sept. 6 at Smith Crossing in Orland Park. Both begin at 6:30 p.m.

    The hour-long gatherings at both life plan communities will be open to questions and comments from the assembled group about the various stages of cognitive loss. After the meetings, light refreshments will be served.

    On Tuesday, Sept. 4, Smith Village's social service director of long-term care Diane Morgan will lead the meeting at 2320 W. 113th Place in Chicago.  To reserve a seat, please call 773-474-7300 or send an email to familyandfriends@smithvillage.org.

    Thursday, Sept. 6, Smith Crossing's director of resident service Amie Swim and life enrichment director Dana Mahler will facilitate the discussion at 10501 Emilie Lane in Orland Park (enter at 104th Avenue and 183rd Street).
