| Vista Alegre Nominated For 14 German Design AwardsVista Alegre, a worldwide leader in fine porcelain, crystal tableware, giftware, and barware, has had 14 products and collections nominated for the 2019 German Design Awards, the winners of which will be announced this autumn.
By: Vista Alegre The German Design Council was founded in 1953 by decree of the German Federal Parliament, and today is one of the world's leading centers of expertise on design. The German Design Council repeatedly champions good design by selecting candidates based on quality, craftsmanship, and innovation. About the nominated collections Bicos Bicolor Vista Alegre's Bicos Bicolor goblets feature geometrically carved handmade glass in dual tones: a clear base with a hued goblet top or vice versa. Poison Winner of a Good Design Chicago Award, Vista Alegre's Poison Bottle, features the Art Deco stylings of a snake ready to attack, a symbol of the forbidden pleasures and danger, with a design that holds highly alcoholic drinks such as Absinthe. Poison is an iconic piece from the Art Deco collection. Gazelle Winner of the Good Design Chicago Award, Gazelle is inspired by the most exotic roots of Art Deco. The handmade crystal bottle pays tribute to an animal often represented at the time of the Art Deco period, featuring the juxtaposition of black glass with crystal, making the decanter a perfect example of sophistication and innovation. Rêveries by Christian Lacroix This new Vista Alegre and Christian Lacroix Maison tableware collection goes by the delightfully light name of Rêveries. The far east-style porcelain is covered with exuberant patterns, bestiaries and imaginary landscapes, inspired by the follies embellishing the gardens of the Château de Groussay. Each piece has a blue lagoon halo and is outlined in platinum and gold. Gold Exotic This luxury table service features a floral pattern richly adorned with gold, creating a mixture of brightness and color. This premium collection creates a sophisticated, exotic environment for any occasion. Cannaregio Cannaregio, a new dinnerware collection from Vista Alegre, features a unique décor scheme defined by romantic floral and fresh vegetable motifs, celestial icons, and deep hues of blue, black and orange. Cannaregio is available as a full dinnerware line, featuring place settings, serving platters, coffee service, and more. Blue Ming by Marcel Wanders In order to complement the popular Blue Ming porcelain line, Blue Ming glassware by designer Marcel Wanders uses corrugation, an old decoration technique that creates distinctive creases, inside the glass. Three bottles of different proportions create a surprisingly harmonious set that is contemporary, with odes to tradition. Mariinsky by Katya Gerasimova Bosky Inspired by her grandmother, Mara Dolinskaia, a ballet dancer at the Mariinsky Opera and Ballet Theatre in St. Petersburg, designer Katya portrays scenic characteristics, the extravagant wardrobe of that time, and the roses of the ball scene in "The Queen of Spades" by Tchaikovsky, among other elements that transport viewers to a universe full of life, color, and creativity. Única Única is a refreshing new home décor set that brings together expert craftsmanship and a modern look. Combining vibrant colors with unexpected silhouettes and textures, the pieces of this set display an uninhibited form that will undoubtedly catch the attention of consumers. 2i The 2i wall plate collection displays illustrations by some of the best international illustrators, who have seen their work distinguished at Ilustrarte – Biennial of Illustration for Children. Created in 2012, 2i continues to dazzle us with the originality of its artists' imaginary. Each plate is limited to 2500 examples. Chicago The luxurious Chicago office set pays homage to the architectural style and urban planning that flourished in that city, which led to the construction of skyscrapers. Thanks to the wooden lid, the box gains additional nobility. Hemisfério by Pablo Mateu Andújar Hemisfério, a creation by the Spanish designer Pablo Mateu Andújar, features artistic design that doubles as functional lighting. Meticulous attention to detail went into the design of a translucent hemisphere-like structure that is a true piece of art. E2H – Earth to Humanity by Ross Lovegrove Hryb, the new Vista Alegre lamp designed by Ross Lovegrove, received the Bronze Prize in Home Interior Products/Lighting and the Bronze Prize in Illumination/ Saturn by Carsten Gollnick Saturn is a creation by the renowned German designer, Carsten Gollnick. Saturn stimulates the creativity of the most ambitious of chefs, coming across as a sculptural space thanks to rotational symmetry and to the area of the sides that rise up elegantly from the entire surface.
