New Program Helps Employees Enter Addiction Treatment

Belden Inc. is offering a program that promises jobs for potential employees who have failed a drug test if they go through drug rehab.

RICHMOND, Ind. - Aug. 20, 2018 - PRLog -- A company has spearheaded a program to help its potential employees enter addiction treatment.

One of the largest employers in Wayne County, Belden Inc. developed a program called 'Pathways to Employment' with local healthcare providers to allow qualified job applicants who failed drug screenings to enter a drug rehabilitation program with the promise of positions upon completion.

Treatment may take on average up to four months, depending on each person's circumstances. Current employees can also benefit from the program, including those who have developed a dependence on prescription opioids for chronic pain. Belden covers all addiction treatment costs.

The U.S. Surgeon General commended Belden on its program. Belden officials hope the program can serve as a model for other businesses to not only address the shortage of qualified workers, but also the nation's opioid epidemic.

The Indiana State Department of Health reported that Wayne County experienced 34 drug poisoning deaths in 2016.
