SEATTLE - Aug. 21, 2018 - PRLog -- To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the National Trails System Act, Geocaching HQ teamed up with Discover the Forest, an effort lead by the U.S. Forest Service and the Ad Council to inspire kids and their parents to reconnect with nature.

1,500 limited-edition Discover the Forest trackable game pieces will be released into the game of geocaching. Anyone living in the United States can register to receive one at Geocaching.com/DiscovertheForest from August 21-28, 2018. Each game piece has a unique tracking number engraved on it and will travel throughout the game once it's released by the owner. The game pieces serve as a reminder to those who cross their path of the 158k miles of trails waiting to be explored.

"We're extremely excited to partner with Discover The Forest to raise awareness for the the abundant trail system in the U.S.," said Co-Founder and President, Bryan Roth.

"The National Trails System is a tremendous resource for geocachers and all other outdoor enthusiasts and we're honored to be a part of this celebration."

Today, there are more than 3 million geocaches hidden by enthusiasts worldwide- over one million in the U.S. alone. Players use the Geocaching® app or GPS device to find and log geocaches. There are also millions of trackable game pieces traveling from geocache to geocache through the hands of players.
