Fundraiser for Martin County Sheriff's Office K9 Grim

INEZ, Ky. - Aug. 15, 2018 - PRLog -- Project Paws Alive, a national nonprofit, is fundraising to provide vital equipment for Martin County Sheriff's Office K9 Grim. The equipment goal for the unit consists of a K9 transport system, vehicle heat alarm system with an ACE WatchDog monitoring system for his patrol vehicle and a K9 first aid field trauma kit.

The majority of K9 units do not have the funds to purchase this protective K9 equipment.  Due to budget cuts and other economic issues 92% of all K9 units are run solely on donations from nonprofits such as Project Paws Alive. Most citizens assume that because the K9 is an officer of the agency the K9 must therefore have a budget for all the protective equipment it needs. This assumption is entirely false.

Many Law Enforcement K9 Units do not have the budget to purchase these life-saving pieces of equipment. Most agencies are prohibited from spending funds on equipment that is not for human officer use. A majority of these units are classified as "non-essential" or "specialty" units and therefore do not often receive any budgets.

These highly trained K9s dutifully protect and serve us every day and we believe they should be protected in return.

Our purpose is to raise funds to provide the equipment they need. Because these items are highly specialized, and state-of-the-art professional equipment, these items are quite costly. Many of them are "Military Grade" to ensure the best possible quality and are proven to last for years. All K9 equipment provided by Project Paws Alive is professionally made by licensed companies that meet all state and federal regulations. Project Paws Alive only donates professional grade equipment certified by the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) and the National Institute for Public Safety (NIPS).

Our goal is to raise $8,000 to provide this vital equipment. All donations are tax-deductible.

Please consider making a tax-deductibe donation today. You may make a donation directly on our website at: http://projectpawsalive.org/mcsok9grim/

Checks can also be mailed to Project Paws Alive, 1193 SE Port Saint Lucie Blvd, Suite 289, Port Saint Lucie, FL 34952. Please make all checks payable to Project Paws Alive and write K9 Grim in the memo line.
