"My Sister's House fills a very important role in our community, supporting underserved women and children from Asian, Pacific Island and other communities," The retail value of the remodel is reported to be $39,000 with an in-kind value of over $19,897. The project was generously funded by SMUD, The Harry C. and Deborah L. Elliott Foundation, Rabobank, N.A. and Sacramento Association of Realtors, US Bank, Up John Foundation and HomeAid Builds. Trade partners supporting the project include Timberlake Cabinets, RDS Design Services, Dal Tile, MOVA Stone, JB Electric, Gold River Flooring, Production Framing, S & G Drywall, Fletcher Plumbing and West Window Fashions. "New flooring, window coverings, cabinets, countertops, paint, artwork, accessories and more give the facility a whole new look!" said Nilda Valmores, Executive Director for My Sister's House. "We are very amazed and grateful for the refreshed environment that goes a long way in adding to the feeling of stability we are trying to create at the facility." # # # About My Sister's House My Sister's House serves Asian, Pacific Islander and other women and children impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. The facility provides a culturally appropriate and responsive safe haven with an array of programs including job training, health information, referrals, transportation, clothing, child care, housing assistance, counseling and other community services. Supportive services help clients move toward a state of stability and becoming self-sufficient.
