ROPE TRICK Screens at Burbank International Film Festival
Award-winning short film directed by Kirk Ryde explores the beauty within mystery.
A winner of six film festival awards, including Best Short Mystery at the Culver City Film Festival, Best Cinematography, Best Actress (Pia Lamberg), and Best Thriller at the West Coast Film Festival, and Best Short Mystery at the Marina del Rey Film Festival, "Rope Trick" was shot in part at the Magic Castle in Hollywood, and stars actor/magicians Jackson Ridd and Steve Silverman, both performing members of the Magic Castle, and actress Pia Lamberg, who was crowned Miss Finland Universe in 2011. "Rope Trick" is a semi-finalist in the Burbank festival.
"I made this film as a stream-of-consciousness exploration of mystery," says Kirk, "as a young man attempts to solve the puzzle in which he finds himself. Sometimes in our own lives, we don't always understand what is happening around us or within us, but ultimately, I believe that the beauty of life lies in the mystery." Mr. Ryde was nominated for Best Director - Short at the Action On Film Festival for his work on the film.
Says Kirk, "As a resident of Burbank for many years, I'm excited to be a part of this festival and screen in my hometown. Downtown Burbank has a really great nightlife and the AMC Theater is a fantastic venue. I'm looking forward to seeing some excellent cinema at the fest, and making some new friends!"
The festival features a Media Red Carpet/Cocktail Reception and Celebrity Hosted Awards Show on Sunday, September 9, beginning at 5:30pm, at the Marriott Airport Hotel and Convention Center, 2500 N. Hollywood Way, Burbank, CA 91501, which will be attended by "Rope Trick" director Kirk Ryde and lead actress and international model Pia Lamberg.
