Comedy Bus Tour Adds to Fleet, Spurs Economic Growth and Fun

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Aug. 10, 2018 - PRLog -- A local comedy bus tour company is poised to expand operations by adding a second vehicle to its fleet and the proprietors have announced a Christening Ceremony to commemorate the event.

Funny Bus Comedy City Tours, started in 2015 by Kevin Anderson and Lisa Schnurr, combines history with comedy while rolling through the Queen City.  The 36-passenger bus takes guests through all the cool and hip neighborhoods surrounding Charlotte such as Historic South End, Plaza Midwood, the NoDa Art District, and all through Uptown.

"When we started, this was just a crazy idea to offer something new and fun to community members and tourists, but the popularity of The Funny Bus has exploded," said Schnurr, who also operates Tour De Food, a walking history and food tour of Charlotte's independent restaurants.

Time's Money Magazine named The Funny Bus the "Best Tour in North Carolina" in 2018 and it was awarded Best Comedy Tour by the Discovery Channel in the national "Official Best Of Awards" in 2016.  The Funny Bus has also been listed by Charlotte Magazine as Best Tour to Take Visiting Friends On.

The Funny Bus has entertained more than 30,000 guests since rolling out the first tour, two and a half years ago.  Guests have included many locals, but the owners are seeing major increases in the number of guests from outside the area and throughout the country.

"The bus passes many stadiums, museums, parks, theaters, restaurants and bars throughout Charlotte, promoting fun things for tourists to do," said Schnurr.

By all counts, The Funny Bus is an economic stimulator for the Queen City.  The Anderson/Schnurr duo are happy to state The Funny Bus has directlu infused more than $1,000,000.00 into the local economy and they are hoping to further that effort with the second bus.

The Christening Ceremony for the second bus is scheduled for Monday, August 13, 2018 at 6:00 PM at First Ward Park on 7th Street.  The owners are inviting the community to come and join the fun as they launch the new bus with the breaking of a ceremonial champagne bottle.

Public Tours on The Funny Bus run Thursday through Sunday and private / corporate tours can be reserved throughout the week.  The standard bus tour is adult oriented and is restricted to guests 17 years of age and older; however, a more family-friendly trip is also offered every Sunday at 1:00 PM.  Guests over the age of 21 are also permitted to bring beer and wine for the comedy-filled ride.
