FORT MYERS, Fla. - Aug. 9, 2018 - PRLog -- Opera Naples announces its upcoming 2018-2019 season. Bringing acclaimed performing artists to Naples from around the world, the lineup features an exciting combination of operas, solo performances, chamber music and special events. This also marks the fifth season with internationally acclaimed Conductor and Artistic Director, Ramón Tebar.

The Opera Naples 2018-2019 Season:

Opera Naples Academy Concert
, November 7, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. at the Wang Opera Center. The 2018-2019 season will begin with Opera Naples Academy, a 10-day intensive for exceptional opera singers from around the world. The Academy offers the Naples community a rare glimpse of the opera stars of the future. Certain master classes will be open to the public and the Academy concludes with a public concert on November 7th at the Wang Opera Center.  Ticket prices: $20.00 - $59.00.

A Toast to Opera – Two Aidas, November 29, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. at the Wang Opera Center. New this season! Learn more about the upcoming performances of Aida at our Toast to Opera event. By happenstance, in addition to Opera Naples' December production of Verdi's epic masterpiece, Aida, Theatre Zone will present the modern Elton John/Tim Rice version of Aida in February! This Toast to Opera event will include a lively presentation by both Tom Cimarusti, Florida Gulf Coast University Associate Professor of Musicology, and Theatre Zone's Artistic Director Mark Danni. A wine and cheese reception will follow the lecture. Ticket prices: $25.00.

Aida, December 19 and 21, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. at Artis-Naples Hayes Hall. Giuseppe Verdi's Aida (sung in Italian with English supertitles) is set in ancient Egypt and is an epic tale of forbidden love, power and loyalty amidst the sorrows of war, known for its famous "Triumphal March" and grand pageantry. Maestro Ramón Tebar will conduct the Naples Philharmonic Orchestra with an international cast and a chorus of over 100 singers in this fully staged opera. Ticket prices: $25-$115

Maxwell Quartet, (Beaux Arts Chamber Music Series), January 22, 2019 at 7:30 p.m. at the Wang Opera Center. Opera Naples welcomes the Maxwell Quartet, hailed as one of the Britain's finest string quartets, as they make their U.S. debut. Maxwell Quartet will also be joined by artistic directors Catherine Lan and Tao Lin in music for piano and string quartet. Ticket prices: $20.00 - $59.00.

A Toast to Opera – L'Isola Disabitata (The Deserted Island), January 29, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. at the Wang Opera Center. Join us at the Wang Opera Center to discover the fascinating background and highlights of Haydn's hidden gem comedic opera with Florida Gulf Coast University Associate Professor of Musicology, Tom Cimarusti, followed by a wine and cheese reception. Ticket prices: $25.00.

L'isola disabitata (The Deserted Island), February 21 and 23, 2019 at 7:30 p.m. at the Wang Opera Center. Performed at the Wang Opera Center (sung in Italian with English supertitles), this comedic hidden gem composed by Haydn takes place on a tiny deserted island. Disheartened Costanza and her younger sister, the innocent Sylvia, abandoned for 13 years by Constanza's fiancé get a big surprise when he returns after escaping captivity at the hands of pirates and tries to resolve the misunderstanding! Ticket prices: $35.00 - $95.00.

Aspen String Trio, (Beaux Arts Chamber Music Series), March 6, 2019 at 7:30 p.m.at Opera Naples. One of the rare professional string trios performing and touring today, the Aspen String Trio is celebrated for virtuoso performances offered with humor and insight. Ticket prices: $20.00 - $59.00.

Opera Stars Concert: Joseph Calleja, tenor, Ramón Tebar, piano. March 21, 2019. Maltese tenor, Joseph Calleja, one of the foremost tenors on the world stage today, will sing in concert with acclaimed pianist, Ramón Tebar. Details to be announced.

A Toast to Opera – Carmen, March 29, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. at the Wang Opera Center. Find out everything you always wanted to know (but were afraid to ask) about Bizet's passionate love story in this lively talk and open discussion with Florida Gulf Coast University Associate Professor of Musicology, Tom Cimarusti followed by a wine and cheese reception. Ticket prices: $25.00.

Opera Naples Academy Concert, April 9, 2019 at 7:30 p.m.at the Wang Opera Center. The spring session of the Opera Naples Academy Concert is a 10-day intensive for exceptional opera singers from around the world. The Academy offers the Naples community a rare glimpse of the opera stars of the future. Certain master classes will be open to the public and the Academy will culminate with an April 9, 2019 public concert. Ticket prices: $20.00 - $59.00.

Roberto Díaz, viola, (Beaux Arts Chamber Music Series), April 11, 2019 at 7:30 p.m.at the Wang Opera Center. Roberto Díaz, the preeminent violist in the world today and President/CEO of Philadelphia's famed Curtis Institute of Music. Ticket prices: $20.00 - $59.00.

Carmen, April 24 and 25, 2019 at 7:30 p.m.at Artis-Naples Hayes Hall. The season will conclude with Georges Bizet's Carmen (sung in French with English supertitles). Carmen, set in southern Spain, presents a love triangle with the zesty temptress gypsy girl Carmen, at the center between a love-struck soldier who descends into jealousy and desperation, and a handsome bull fighter. Everyone will recognize the "Toreador's Song." Maestro Ramón Tebar will conduct the Naples Philharmonic Orchestra with an international cast in this fully staged opera.Ticket prices: $25 - $115.

Special Event

An Egyptian Fantasy
, Opera Naples' Annual Benefit Gala will take place on December 11, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at the newly remodeled Club Pelican Bay. The Egyptian theme celebrates this season's production of Giuseppe Verdi's Aida (performances December 19 & 21, 7:30pm at Artis-Naples Hayes Hall). Funds raised via the gala support Opera Naples' Performance, Education, and Community Outreach Programs. Individual Tickets: $350 and $500, Tables of 10: $3,500 and $5,000.
