WESTMINSTER, England - Aug. 9, 2018 - PRLog -- At KNect365 Learning, we are delighted to announce the launch of our new postgraduate Foundation Certificate in Space Policy and Law this October – a part-time, 6-month distance learning programme.

The space sector is rapidly expanding and is expected to reach or surpass $587 billion in turnover by 2030. Major new space capabilities relevant to everyday needs and problems are now coming online, such as the EU's programmes Galileo – which completed its full operational configuration with the successful launch of four satellites on 25 July – and Copernicus, which supports a range of environmental and security applications. Countries now positioning themselves include the UK, whose 2018 Space Industry Act is conceived to foster spaceports and other innovation.

This expansion of space spells new ventures, new industry jobs and new educational challenges to meet, making it something we are eager to play our part in.

The course is aimed at (1) the professional already involved in the space sector but needing greater insight into its policy and legal frameworks and (2) those entering this complex and demanding field, to help them in addition place those frameworks into context.

Particular content includes the examination of major space policies, legal regimes and institutions as well as of the role of international cooperation agreements, procurement systems and related intellectual property and management arrangements.

The programme director, Dr Kevin Madders, is an acknowledged expert in space policy and law, with over 30 years' experience in the field. He is managing partner of the space and ICT consultancy Systemics Network International (SNI), which has advised governmental and private entities on a range of space and information society topics.
