VeraniCARES to Launch Annual Food Drive – August 15 through September 15

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. - Aug. 8, 2018 - PRLog -- Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Verani Realty is proud to announce that they'll once again be taking up a food collection via their VeraniCARES program. The annual food drive will run from August 15^ththrough September 15^th. All of Verani's offices and agents will be accepting nonperishable food items which will benefit local food banks around the state as well as the efforts of the national Feeding America Program.

Last year Verani agents and employees united efforts over the course of the month and collected over 2,500 pounds of food along with $12,000 worth of donations which were presented to the New Hampshire Food Bank and the Merrimack Valley Food Bank. According to the New Hampshire Food Bank, every dollar donated can provide two meals to hungry families. This year's food drive goes hand in hand with Feeding America's initiative of calling out September as Hunger Action Month across the country.

"For years I have served my community at our local food pantry. Without the support of the New Hampshire Food Bank we wouldn't be as able to provide nutritious food to our recipients," said Verani Realty agent Lisa Brochu, who is based out of Verani's Londonderry, N.H. office. "We chose the New Hampshire Food Bank because it touches so many different organizations throughout the state and can have a very real impact on families. I personally remain committed to seeing that no one has to worry about where their next meal is coming from.  I am so proud to be part of an organization that cares so much about the communities we live and work in."

VeraniCARES is Verani's social development arm that involves agents and employees in ways to give back to the communities they live in and serve. The idea to focus on regional food banks was spearheaded by Brochu. Through her local volunteer work, she saw the need for healthy meals in her own community and understood that leveraging Verani's network to solicit beneficial food donations and supplies was a great way to give back to the company's greater community.
