Merger to Benefit Addiction TreatmentHackensack Meridian Health and the Carrier Clinic recently merged and plan to expand addiction treatment and behavioral health services across the state.
According to the New Jersey Coordinator of Addiction Response and Enforcement Strategies (NJ CARES), 2,221 drug overdose deaths occurred in 2016. HMH and Carrier are developing plans to open an addiction treatment center next year. In addition, HMH is expanding the number of beds to assist more patients requiring inpatient treatment services. Some other programs they plan to implement include assisting EMTs, firefighters and other medical professionals in high-stress situations and offering 24/7 behavioral health resources for veterans, pregnant women and adolescents. Later this year, Carrier will team up with Princeton University to develop a wrist device that will monitor a person's vital signs. Carrier representatives hope data from the device will help them predict signs of relapse and arrange interventions. https://www.drugaddictionnow.com/ End
