The organizers of the first annual event are focused on ensuring that patrons of all ages will be able to enjoy all aspects of the day. Set to commence at midday and end at 10:00pm, Roots reggae, Reggae lovers rock, Dub cultures, Ska, Soca, Calypso and Kompa, among others will be echo throughout the event. The festival promotes inclusion and is a concise representation of the varying cultures throughout the Caribbean.
Top Tier Management and Pumpstation Entertainment have culminated their previous promotion, 'Caribbean Live' series with the DC World Reggae Festival to help reinforce their intent to promote unity and inclusion. Pumpstation Entertainment is providing opportunities to youth bands and young professional musicians. Future stagings can expect to include local school bands, including Duke Ellington School of Performing Arts into the festival showcase. Another intent is the hosting of workshops to teach interested youth bands how to compose, arrange and play Caribbean genres.
The organizers are arduously investing their energies into the success of the first staging of this event. The message echoed to patrons and the wider public is, "We trust that this will become a fundamental part of promoting diversity in music and Caribbean Cultural Awareness throughout North America."
