Gabby Salinas Wins Tn State Senate, District 31 Democratic Primary

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Aug. 3, 2018 - PRLog -- Gabby Salinas, candidate for Tennessee State Senate, District 31 position, won her primary (7,732 votes) against democratic candidates David Weatherspoon (6,888 votes) and M. Rodanial Ransom (1,499 votes) during the August 2^nd elections.

She celebrated her win with a host of friends, family and supporters who rallied with her at La Herradura Restaurant on Summer Avenue, continuing with her stump speech of making the impossible possible.

"Money doesn't vote," Salinas said to group of nearly fifty.  "People vote.  We were out-spent and we were out-raised. But we still managed to make the impossible possible.  So, when people tell you that we are trying to do the impossible, you tell them yes, and I'm going to help."

Gabby Salinas is a scientist and community advocate.  For many years, she has worked in Memphis, served on various boards and collaborated with state legislators to raise awareness and make changes for the betterment of local citizens.  In 2018, she decided to put her name on the ballot and run for TN State Senate to create real change.

"We are not fighting against anyone or anything," Salinas reiterated.  "We are fighting for what is important.  Healthcare, fair wages, affordable tuition for all, including for our DACA students, and bringing Tennessee values back to our state."

A graduate of Christian Brothers University, a former research technologist for the Department of Chemical Biology and Therapeutics at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and doctoral student in Pharmaceuticals Sciences from the University of Kentucky, the three-time cancer survivor and scientist is determined to bring the needs of District 31 to the state capital and provide real results.

"We can make this happen with every person willing to make their voice heard through their vote," said Salinas.

Salinas will face incumbent Republican State Senator Brian Kelsey in the November general election.  She feels that her platform and the overwhelming support of the community will speak for itself in the race.
