Pearlharbor.org: Pearl Harbor Site Developed For Attack Survivors' Stories

Site remembering Pearl Harbor Survivors seeks personal stories of survivors for display on site pages.

HONOLULU - Aug. 3, 2018 - PRLog -- Holo Hawaii Tours, owner of pearlharbor.org, is seeking attack survivor stories to add to a collection of text, images, audio and video. The Pearl Harbor site's goal is to build the largest collection of personal accounts and remember the impact of survivor's lives since the attack. Pearl Harbor Attack Survivor stories can be submitted on the site.

At 8 a.m. that infamous December morning, Japanese planes flew over Pearl Harbor - the U.S. Naval base located just outside the Honolulu - and dropped bombs on the harbor and the surrounding airfields. More than 1,500 crewmen died, and two ships sank to the bottom of the harbor.

"My grandfather was a high school senior living outside of Waikiki when the attack occurred," said James Owen, owner of https://pearlharbor.org. "He later joined the army and fought in Europe."

Owen highlighted stories from the site, noting Everett Hyland's as one of the most impactful survivor he's met. Owen also described the story of Adolph Kuhn as the most incredible.

The greatest generation's lives can teach lessons in grief, sacrifice, patriotism and survival. It is important to provide this resource for the survivors and their loved ones. The collection of personal accounts also provides educational value and promotes understand of the lessons of our past.

Not all heroes wear capes. Survivor stories can be included on the site by clicking contact in the upper left-hand corner of any page.

"My opinion is that survivors can teach a great deal about forgiveness," said Owen. "They have experienced something more devastating than we have been through. Their stories help us to understand how that feels and how to deal with such devastation."
