By: United Premier Soccer League
Based in Sioux Falls (S.D.), Dakota Young Stars FC will begin UPSL play in the Midwest Conference West Division. The club will play its UPSL home games at University of Sioux Falls Stadium (1101 W. 22nd Street, Sioux Falls, SD 57105) in compliance with UPSL Minimum Standards.
United Premier Soccer League Central Conference Manager Cliff Conrad said, "Tarlue Zulu and his team are committed to growing the game in the Dakotas by adding a competitive Pro Development team to the Sioux Falls area's numerous recreational teams. Their successful history as a club and their vision make them a great fit for the UPSL, and we are glad to have them in the Midwest Conference."
Jet Morris, Benson Quiah, Karwo Solo and Tarlue Zulu are owners of Dakota Young Stars FC.
Zulu, 26, is a native of Liberia and immigrated to the United States in 2004. A graduate of Sioux Falls (S.D.)'s Lincoln High School, Zulu played at University of Sioux Falls and earned a BA in Criminal Justice. He currently works as a youth counselor.
Dakota Young Stars FC President Tarlue Zulu said, "Since Day 1 we've been trying to improve ourselves and we've been looking to find the right league to grow into. We feel like the UPSL is the best one because we can give young players some high-level experience before they head off to college. It's a good platform for young players, and it'll be great for Sioux Falls."
Quiah, 23, serves as the General Manager for Dakota Young Stars FC. Morris, 23, is the Club Secretary.
Dakota Young Stars FC was champions of the Sioux Falls (S.D.) African amateur league in 2015 before moving into Sioux Falls' more competitive La Liga in 2017. The club was a league semifinalist last season.
The club soon will announce its upcoming tryout and game schedule.
